Things to do in Kangwon-do, S. Korea | 2015 Wow Korea Supporters (Day 3)

Day 3

We stayed in
Seongyojang (
선교장) which is a Hanok stay where foreigners can experience living in a traditional Korean house.

Thankfully the place is well furnished and it even has hot showers and wifi.

This place is definitely for people who want to get away from the hectic city and relax.

Next we went rail-biking along the beach! It was a really good exercise. And when we ran out of breath, we could move it with electricity. The scenery was great and it was so much fun.

Its located at Jeongdongjin Station and apparently you can do so much stuff there!

After that we went to Haslla museum. It's basically an art gallery, hotel, coffee shop and restaurant.

This time they even have an exhibition on marionettes!

And the scenery was awesome as you can see the beach and hiking up the mountains.

There are even sculptures as you walk up the trail :)

Also,we had our lunch in the museum. The restaurant was called Jang restaurant and they serve organic Korean tradition meals. Most of it are veggies and they were delicious! I was full and very satisfied with the food and the service.

And that basically concluded the 3days trip.

And I really can't wait for the next one!!  :)

Things to do in Kangwon-do, S. Korea | 2015 Wow Korea Supporters (Day 2)

Day 2

After waking up, I was super hungry!!! And so, we went to this little restaurant that serves fish, bean-paste soup and some delicious side dishes.

Also went to the national park where there was a temple a huge statue of Buddha.
And since the weather was so wonderful, we went to up to Mt. Seorak by cable car.

Thank god we didn't have to climb all the way up to the top.

But since I was feeling adventurous, I decided to hike up but it was a bit too terrifying to get to the top of Mt. Seorak.

I did manage to enjoy the view up there and even met some other Malaysian visitors.

I really do recommend going to Mt. Seorak if you happened to be at Kangwon-do.

After that, we went strawberry-picking in Engol Strawberry Farm (응골딸기마을)!

Even though strawberry season is almost over, this strawberry farm still has lots of strawberries that can be plucked and eaten! In fact, they don't use any insecticides and it's 100% organic! And I picked a box of strawberries myself :)

Then, we went to the Sokcho central market for some street food. Had the famous Hodeok (호떡), ice-cream fished-shaped bread (아이스크림 붕어 ) and Sokcho's very own specialty - 닭간정, which is fried chicken covered with savoury sauce.

These pictures make me sooooo hungry~

And our eating tour did not end yet. We traveled to Gangneung to have their famous soft tofu stew.
It was a little spicy but it was sooo good!! And it only cost 14,000 Won!!

After that we went to stay at a Hanok (한옥) stay which was an extremely unique accommodation. Check out the next post to find out how awesome the Hanok stay is!!

Things to do in Kangwon-do, S.Korea | 2015 Wow Korea Supporters (Day 1)

So I joined the wow Korea supporters program and honestly, it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. So basically, it's a program where a bunch of foreigners would travel to different places in Korea that are not as famous as Jeju island and then we would have to write articles and post update about the trip on Facebook.

So if you are a foreign student in Korea and you want to travel for free (since students are usually broke), be sure to check out the wow Korea supporter Facebook page right HERE!

So for the first trip, we all went to Kangwon-do (
강원도) and it is basically one of the best place to go if you ever want to have a relaxing and yet fun getaway.

Day 1

Our trip started off in Wonju in the Museum SAN. It's basically a museum/art gallery. Even the architecture is amazing and they actually took 7 years to complete the construction.

In museum SAN you can see exhibitions by James Turrell. His artworks basically inspired the videography for the movie Interstellar. And his art works beau ally involves light and space. It's pretty amazing. Unfortunately you are not allowed to take any photos.

There is also the Hanji (Korean paper) exhibition and it is pretty cool to see how artistes embrace their culture and make art works based on it.

After that we travelled to Sokcho where we had fried fritters at the Daepo Harbour located in Sokcho.

The
grandma (할머니) that was working there was sooo kind to us.

That night, I slept with a full stomach :) So satisfied!
